May Days

We're currently in May but these April showers seem to be with us still. I can't wait for Summer and all it brings, parks, picnics and sunshine! I'm very much looking forward to festivals and gigging this year, as I've been pregnant for almost 2 years constantly back to back, it's going to be great to finally have a not so limited summer with a big baby belly!

George is now 5 months and has turned a corner in his behaviour. Recently he had a trip to the children's A&E and was diagnosed with 'silent reflux'. He has been screaming in pain since the day he was born but the doctor and midwives said he was fine. We on he other hand didn't agree, so one evening Adam and I agreed for me to take George to the children's A&E. I explained what had been happening and symptoms and they admitted him straight away. We had an overnight stay in a ward, I off course stayed with him (on a quite comfortable hospital bed!) and him in a hospital metal cot. It made me sad. George was hooked up to several machines, had bloods taken and examined a few times then doctors finally diagnosed him. And we were right. He had been sick since birth. The acid in his stomach had been travelling back up into his throat. He had been prescribed and given meds around and hour later and what a difference that made! No more screaming to pain. No more sad baby. I'm so glad we stuck with our instincts and had him seen nearly every week by a doctor or midwife, and then the A&E! It just goes to show that doctors don't always know best. The parents do!

So for now he's getting better, the wiggling and screaming in pain has stopped, and feeding time is a pleasure not a struggle. And he should hopefully grow out of it.

Katie is reading wonderfully at school and her confidence in everything she does is blossoming.

Harrison is walking and running and loving exploring. He's growing up do fast. Too fast.

All my babies are. I wish I could slow it down, but I do love this amazing journey we are taking as a growing family.

All the best.

Family of 5

On Monday the family and I went to soft play in Peckham. It's the first time in ages that we've all been able to spend time as a family, normally there's school, play groups, homework, nappy changes and work to compete with. Just us. The kids, Adam and I walked had a late lunch and left around 3pm, the kids were so excited..

It was Harrison's first time in the ball pit and it's safe to say he LOVED it!! Katie as alway made a friend within 2 minutes of taking her shoes off and running into the slide area! She's such a social butterfly! I love her!

George slept all the way through the play, not a peep! It's the first time out that little George hasn't cried and been awake while we're out, so it was lovely not just to relax and watch the kids play with Adam. It made my heart melt, Adam jumping into the balls with Harrison.

Harrison found a love for he slide too, he enjoyed sitting and the top and shouting 'weeeeee' before he stared to slide, it's so amazing to watch Harrison grow, he seems more like a toddle now and not a baby!

We then left after an hour or so of play and walked home to enjoy some down time, baths for the kiddos and some relaxation.

Such a fantastic day :)
